On this page, you’ll find a list of some of the most popular web hosting companies around, most of which specialize in WordPress.
A word or two about the prices mentioned on this page and web hosts’ sales pages
Web hosting companies offer massive discounts to tempt you to sign up. More often than not, you’ll see discounted rates on their banner ads and sales pages. These rates may only apply for the first invoice, a short time or if you pay for many months or years in advance.
So when it comes to renewing your hosting account, you might be surprised at the price hike. Here’s the notice in action on SiteGround’s order form.
Before you sign up for any hosting service, check the length of the introductory rate and renewal price (this is usually the price you see in brackets/parentheses on advertising). Sometimes, there’s a big difference between the two.
If you don’t understand the pricing, get onto the online chat to clarify anything you’re not sure about.
Bluehost is a web hosting company chosen by many beginners. They provide a decent service at a competitive rate and offer you a free domain name when you sign-up. They give you everything you need in one package from one place.
Bluehost offers a range of services to suit every pocket and match every requirement from shared hosting to dedicated servers.
Prices start at $3.95 per month.
HostGator is another popular web hosting choice for beginners. Its packages start at just $2.75 per month for a shared hosting account. They also offer hosting specifically for WordPress websites. And if you’re looking for something more powerful, you can find VPS hosting and dedicated servers at competitive prices.
Yet another popular hosting company, but this one might not be as high on your radar as the previous two, but it’s one worth considering. Prices here start at $6.99 per month for specialist WordPress hosting, a little less for shared hosting, and go up to $105.69 per month for a dedicated server.
And if you don’t want the hassle of building your own website, inmotion will do it for you in two days for a flat fee of $99.
A2 Hosting offers a “blazing fast web hosting solution perfect for you!” from as little as $3.92 per month for a shared server. You may not have heard of A2, but they do seem to have a decent reputation amongst customers and web hosting review/monitoring websites. Not one to immediately dismiss.
The cheapest package at Kinsta costs $30 per month for one install. You don’t get a discount if you double the number of installs to two. Discounts kick-in at five installs, for which you’ll pay $100 per month (that’s $20 per site).
In all, Kinsta operates 8 different hosting packages, with the most expensive costing $1,500 per month for 150 installs. If this isn’t enough, talk to Kinsta about a custom package.
WPX Hosting is quite a new company in the WordPress hosting sector, but it’s quickly building an awesome reputation for speed loading times and outstanding customer service. Two things that matter to most website owners.
The lowest-priced package is just $24.99 per month for 5 sites. Which is excellent value compared to its competitors, and not out of the reach for anyone running a serious website publishing or affiliate marketing business.
SiteGround is a pretty big fish when it comes to WordPress hosting. They too have earned an excellent reputation over the past few years amongst website owners.
They offer three packages: StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek, which start at $3.95 per month for one website and go up to $11.95 per month for unlimited websites. The prices quoted here are the prices advertised on the site, but be aware that these are ‘starter prices’ and the ‘regular’ prices are considerably higher at $11.95 through to $34.95 per month.
WPEngine is the company that bought StudioPress, the creators of the famous WordPress premium theme framework, Genesis, which is now included for free in all its hosting packages. If you’re building sites for clients, this is a major selling point when it comes to choosing a host.
They offer three standard packages starting at $29.17 per month if you pay annually ($35 per month if you don’t) for one website, going up to £241.67 per month (paid annually) for 15+ websites.
